ABOUT KATIA NORFORD

I have been living in the district with my family for over 20 years, in this time I have witnessed a need for small business resources, educational policies, and fair equitable housing in our community to build generational wealth. My primary theme is improving the quality of life in our neighborhoods. I am running because I want to see a vibrant and safe neighborhood rooted in cultural diversity. This district gave me the opportunity to become an entrepreneur, homeowner, and raise my family.

My husband and I have been the proud owners of Carlitos Barbershop for 17 years. I personally know the highs and lows of being a small business owner. However, since joining the Main South Business Association, I have been able to see other business owner perspectives, especially during COVID. Therefore, I am committed to advocating for policies that support and promote small businesses. I firmly believe that small businesses are the backbone of our economy and for that we must create an environment that encourages their growth and development. By doing so, we can create more jobs, increase revenue, and make our neighborhoods more vibrant and prosperous.

Moreover, I am also a mother of two strong beautiful girls who attend Worcester Public Schools. I value their teachers who work so hard to give them a quality education. I would like to advocate for more after school programs that promote music education, art enrichment, and higher education preparation courses.

I also want to advocate for the safety and well-being of our community by addressing critical issues such as improving street lighting, enhancing safety measures, and creating opportunities to improve the overall livability of our neighborhoods.  I strongly believe in promoting economic equity by ensuring that every member of our community has access to the resources they need to thrive. As a City Councilor, I will work tirelessly to create policies that foster growth, development, and sustainability in our neighborhoods, and ensure that every resident has an equal opportunity to succeed.

In addition, I am a homeowner, and a tenant. In the last few years, property costs have risen significantly affecting both landlords and tenants and created a burden for both. My commitment to both areas is to create policies where we can bring more equitable, fair ordinance that can be beneficial for both parties.

As a candidate for Worcester City Council District 4, I am committed to listening and addressing the concerns of our community. I want to learn firsthand what issues are most important to you, so that I can best serve as your representative.

Together, we can identify solutions and I am ready to lead with integrity and stand up for what is right.

Let's work together and make our neighborhoods the best they can be.

BLESSINGS...
